Work through the review
Use invented employee records throughout the trial. Include a new starter, a manager change, an absence, a correction near the payroll cutoff and a departure. Ask HR, the payroll owner and the person administering access to review the same scenario. Confirm which countries, entities and payroll services the proposed plan covers before comparing a demonstration with your needs.
Follow a joiner through the handoff
Create the employee and identify which fields the employee, manager and HR operator can supply or change. Test a missing required field and a corrected start date. Follow the record into the payroll handoff or export, keeping the person responsible for validating that output visible. Record whether the handoff is native, a separate module, an external service or a manual file. A broad HR product label does not answer that question.
Inspect the same record from several roles
Open the employee record as the employee, their manager, another manager and the payroll operator. Test the visibility of compensation, documents and absence information separately. Change the reporting line and repeat the test. For integrations, request a separate account and inspect what it can retrieve; a user-interface restriction may not describe the API permission. Keep each observed result with its role and plan.
Repeat an exception near the cutoff
Submit an absence adjustment or a compensation correction after the trial cutoff. Ask where it appears, who approves it and how the payroll owner sees the difference from the previous export. Preserve both versions and verify which record is intended for processing. Your payroll specialist should decide whether the demonstrated process satisfies the organisation’s rules. The product trial itself does not establish payroll accuracy or local compliance.
Close the employee lifecycle
Process a sample departure, revoke ordinary access and verify the result using that account. Inspect integration access separately. Ask which records remain accessible to authorised staff and how a complete employee file can be exported. Have a second reviewer read the export and record its omissions. Agree retention and deletion handling with the responsible internal owner before putting real employee information into a new system.
Source and scope
Personio describes employee roles and the broad access associated with administration. It illustrates why a trial should include ordinary roles. The questions here are our editorial tests, not an assessment of Personio or another vendor.
